I Love A Good Tile - Unboxing our April BeWeave Box

What is the most unusual place you have ever found inspiration for creative work?

Last month our BeWeave Yarn and Fibre subscription box was inspired by my very own bathroom tiles. I fell in love with these tiles the moment I saw them last year and knew that I just had to have them for our renovation. The tiles have an old feel to them which came from the colouring, the shape and the pattern, which made them just perfect for our cottage home. Check out my inspiration below.

With those beautiful tiles in your mind now, lets take a closer look at what that meant for our April BeWeave Box.

With the colour palette being the inspiration it allowed for a range of fibres to be explored, which we did. April's BeWeave subscription box brought us some fan favourites as well as one new fibre that was much less known. Lets take a look at what was in the box.

Our first fibres were combed wool tops. There were 2 tops in the box this month, a solid brown tone and a commercially blended brown top. This beautiful blend had a sold brown base with light and dark highlights.

Next we explored some string and rope options. These are always a welcome addition to any box as ( I believe) you can never have too many different colours in your stash. String and rope are so useful as fillers, looking great as a simple tabby or bulking up your fringe with looped rya. They are great for completing small macrame projects too. Our string additions were a soft premium bamboo and a sample of our newest addition at Vada Blue, Bobbiny braided cord.

A divine sari silk with a champagne base, hand painted with golden browns was our feature ribbon and there was no doubt this was going to be a favourite with you all. (There are a couple of these left in store but be quick, they wont last long)

The April BeWeave box also introduced us to a new fibre; pre felt. This ribbon is soft and fluid and is fantastic for creating gentle waves in your weave. Pre felt is the fabric created during the process of creating felt, however they stop the process just prior to a fully felting the wool and it is just lovely.

Our non fibre item for the month was a canvas zipper pouch which inspired the inspiration project for April., a woven clutch.
