Packing and posting has started for the March BeWeave Yarn and Fibre Box already, so before it arrives I wanted to share with you all the good things that came in February's BeWeave Box. If you are following me over at Vada Blue on Instagram or Facebook you likely would have seen seen some pictures already, but here is a break down of whats in the box, my inspiration and what is it that I love about each item.
Our Inaugural BeWeave Yarn and Fibre box was MERINO WOOL FAVOURITES in a delicious summery palette that was inspired by Mango and Strawberry Daiquiris on the balcony at the Seacliff Pub in South Australia.
Merino Wool Favourites BeWeave Box brings you:
Hand dyed, Australian Organic 8ply Merino Yarn in Daiquiri
Fine Merino Wool top in Honey
Extra Fine Merino Wool Top in Raspberry
Piuma Yarn in Ireland
Felt Balls 100% Merino in Honey, Raspberry, Ireland, Snow
BeWeave 100% Cotton Tote Bag
I had such fun curating this box. I personally hand dyed each of the beautiful Organic Merino yarns. These beautiful yarns are an 8ply Merino, certified organic yarn, grown in Australia and spun in New Zealand. Each 100g skein has approx. 208 metres. For knitters - 22 stitches per 10cm with 4mm needles is the recommendation. It is a great all rounder and perfect for knitting, crochet and of course weaving. No two yarns were the same which is one of the reasons I love hand dyed yarn.
Being the first box I also wanted to include a memento and the practical BeWeave Cotton Project Bag is just that. I often take a project bag with me when we go camping and when I am sitting and waiting at dancing lessons. It is a great way to keep your yarns safe while you travel in the car, on the bus or train or any other place you love to take your hobby to work on.
I absolutely had to include my favourite wool product of all time in the wool favourties box and this is the beautiful soft wool roving. I use roving across so many of my projects in weaving and spinning. Each box included a Fine (23 micron) and Extra Fine (19 micron) variety. Both are extremely soft but having them together in the BeWeave Box allowed you to really see and feel that there is a little bit extra to the extra fine. This is something we had discussed in one of our live sessions in A Makers Space Facebook Group so it was great to be able to show this in real life.
It’s always good to have a contrasting colour and I just love the addition of the Ireland DHG Piuma yarn with the pink and yellows. Piuma yarn is 100% made from Merino wool with a delicate twist making it the perfect all-rounder.
Lastly the fun addition of the felt balls are there to inspire some creativity. Super soft, these make great embellishments across your weaving and other craft projects. I am looking forward to adding these and some other colours to the shop real soon, so keep an eye out for those.
I have had some great feedback from our very first BeWeave Yarn and Fibre Subscription Box (You can see some of the comments below) and am super excited to share with you all the good things I have sitting behind me in boxes waiting for their turn to appear in a BeWeave Box over the next few months.
The BeWeave Box is a closed subscription but will be opening again soon. If you missed out on round 1, you can join the wait list for round two HERE. This will give you all the details on the subscription box plus early access to sign up with an early bird special.
PS below you will see a very happy yet exhausted me late at night when I finished putting together the final box. Thank you to all my wonderful BeWeavers. Sarah xx
