PROCEDURE

To make the tea cozy, start from a strip and after sewing it add the pom pom.

Instructions for making the crochet tea cozy

Gently cast on 24 chains.

Row 1 (wrong side): from the second chain on the hook, work 1 half double crochet in each chain [22 half double crochets]

row 2 (right side): work 2 chains (they do not count as a stitch from here on), turn over, 1 half double crochet in the next 3 stitches, 1 puff stitch in the next stitch, (a half stitch in the next 6 stitches), repeat a half stitch twice in the following 4 stitches [3 puff stitches]

row 3: 2 chains, turn over, work the entire row with half double crochet, 1 half double crochet in each half double crochet of the previous row, 1 half double crochet in each puff stitch. To have the correct number of stitches, work only 1 half double crochet in the puff stitch and skip the chain with which you closed the puff stitch [22 half double crochets]

row 4: 2 chains, turn over, (a half double crochet in the following 6 stitches, 1 puff stitch in the following stitch), repeat twice, a half double crochet in the following 8 stitches [2 puff stitches]

row 5: repeat row 3

from row 6 to row 13: repeat from row 2 to row 5 twice

row 14 (space to pass the handle): work 2 chain stitches, turn, work a half double crochet in the following 6 stitches, 12 chain stitches, skip 12 stitches, work a half double crochet in the following 4 stitches [10 half double crochets]

row 15: 2 chains, turn over, half double crochet in the following 6 stitches, a half double crochet in the following 12 chains (insert the hook into the chain stitch and not in the bow), a half double crochet in the following 4 stitches [ 10 half double crochets]

from row 16 to row 27: repeat from row 2 to row 5 3 times.

Cut the thread.

Fold the obtained strip, and join the two short sides to form a cylinder with the right side facing inwards. With the needle and the Piuma thread, sew along the short side as follows: from the bottom, sew along 4 stitches and from the top, sew along 8 stitches, leave an unstitched space, you will need to pass the teapot spout through.

Still, on the wrong side, sew the top of the tea cozy with Piuma thread: make soft stitches around the hole and then tighten to close the hole. Pull the thread gently to prevent it from breaking.

Fasten all threads on the wrong side.

Turn the tea cozy onto the right side and if necessary, push the puff stitches from the inside outwards to make them all pop out on the right side.

Make a pom pom approximately 7cm / 2.7 in diameter and sew it to the top of the tea cozy.
