Velvet, it oozes luxury and there is nothing more soft and lush to touch. This makes my silk velvet ribbon the perfect addition to any woven piece or other craft for adding depth and texture.
 
Knotted, twining, soumak, these velvet ribbons are suited to many different weaving techniques that will ensure your pieces stand out from the crowd.  
 
Hand dyed in Australia, each velvet ribbon has been hand torn, creating a beautifully rustic frayed look. Ribbons are approx 5cm wide and come in 1.5 metre length. As these are hand torn, there may be slight variations in size.
 
One of the things that makes this product extra special comes from the beauty of hand dyeing, this means each and every piece of fabric is unique. 
 
High lustre, soft drape velvet, the pile is rayon, weave is silk and it excellent for weaving, felting, dimensional work and many other crafts. 
 
To remove any wrinkles from your velvet, wet the velvet and put in a tumble dryer on hot to dry.  Alternatively, use the shot of steam on your iron - with the iron sitting upright, and pressing the shot of steam button, drape and drag the back of the velvet over the iron until the wrinkles disappear.
 
It is important to note that each piece of fabric has been hand dyed and that although consistency across each piece is the aim, the hand dyeing processes does create slight differences between two pieces of the same colourway. We recommend that you acquire all the fabric you need for a project at the same time to ensure it's likeness.
