Owner, Designer, Creator
Sarah is the brand behind Vada Blue. A mum of three and wife to a wonderful, supportive husband who puts up with a fibre filled house and early morning set up runs to local markets with minimal complaint.
With a background in Real Estate and Youth Work, Sarah had never considered herself to be the creative type. Many who know her, would have agreed. Now, she is the sole designer and creator of all her pieces, supplies handmade art to 4 local Adelaide shops, as well as independently sourcing quality new and fun fibre products to share with her fellow makers.
Vada Blue was quickly created after a new found interest in Macrame and beautiful fibres turned into a passion for creating and watching pieces take on a life of their own. A test of the market, and some positive feedback later, Vada Blue was taken to the next level and continues to grow each week. As her knowledge expands her interest in new techniques and materials has taken her to weaving, carding and even spinning her own yarn, something that came about organically from not wanting to throw any scraps away…. You have do something with them, right!
A highlight for Sarah was her very first public market, (pictured) and oh how things have changed. From skill levels, to set up and range of products Vada Blue is now a known name across the Adelaide Macrame scene for handmade feature pieces and and ever growing range of macrame, weaving and diy craft supplies.
Although she still enjoys the market scene regularly to sell her pieces and meet new people, much of her business is now done through social media platforms and her online store.
Sarah enjoys sharing her knowledge and learning new things from others and with this she began her Macrame Workshops and has created the Facebook group - A Makers Space, Fibre Arts with Vada Blue which she would love you to join.
Some of her favourite things are creating custom orders for her clients and seeing their ideas come to life, collaborating with other local artists, one of which has led to creating her signature personalised name and date signs, and hosting Macrame Parties and workshops where others can learn the art of macrame from Sarah in a relaxed environment, even with a glass of wine if that's your thing.
A big part of the business moving forward is the macrame and weaving supplies. Sarah’s aim is to bring you gorgeous textures and colours and help you to explore new techniques and step out of your comfort zone. Sarah has spent time to ensure she finds the best of the best from quality, sustainable and fair trade suppliers locally and from across the globe, specialsing in hand-dyed textured ribbons.
If you are after a feature piece, a special gift, have a party to host or looking for macrame or fibre supplies, get in touch. Sarah would love to hear from you.
